The New Beginning...Siguiendo La Tradicion!


WE WANT YOU - to volunteer for the 8th Annual New York Salsa Congress Dance & Music Festival from August 27 - 31, 2008.   We are in search for 20 volunteers to work several shifts and several hours.  Must be a LOCAL RESIDENT and a NON - DANCER.  So dancers press the red X button at the top right of this screen and then browse the rest of the site.  If you have any older family members that you'd think to like to be involved then please let them know and have them apply. 

Positions Available: Registration, Hospitality desk, Merchandise, Workshop Monitors, Production Assistant, Artistic Directors & Tech Engineers Assistant , Performance Assistant. 

Shifts:There are 4 shifts available.  Day(9 PM -5 PM), Mid-Afternoon(4:30 PM - 9:30 PM), Early Evening and Night(9 PM -2 AM).  If you work one shift then you get to attend the event during another shift for free.  For Ex:  If you work the Day shift between 9AM - 5PM then you will be able to attend the Early Evening and Night activities.
   
Positions like Registration, Hospitality desk,  Merchandise, required staff for all the shifts.  Workshop Monitors are only used during the days. Production Assistants can be a person or someone who is doing something else but can be picked for this position also.  Usually used during the days.  Artistic Directors & Tech Engineers Assistant main responsibilities will be used during Morning tech rehearsals.  Performance Assistant will be used during the Mid Afternoons, early evenings and nights before and during both performances.

Hospitality desk:  Meet N Greet the attendees.  Hand everyone a Program Booklet, know and study the Program Booklet completely to be able to answer all attendees questions., set up goodie bags, Etc.

Registration: Aid administrator with sign in sheets, etc.  

Merchandise:
Sell merchandise that is a part of our store like dvds, shirts, etc.
 
Workshop Monitors:  Check wristbands, ID's of workshop attendees, Fill out class surveys, assist instructor.

Production Assistant:
  A person who assists in the necessary various task for the production of this event.  A combined position. 

Artistic Directors & Tech Engineers Assistant:  Main purpose is to helps either Artistic Director & Tech Engineer in the dance team tech rehearsal process, etc.  Also a combined position.

Performance Assistant:
Will be used to usher VIPs (not Full Pass VIPs) to their seats.  Makes sure no one else sits in the VIPs seats but only people that belong there.  Also helps dancers on and off the stage before and after each performance. 

Description:  Certain positions only require a certain amount of volunteers.  When writing it, please list at least 2 positions that you would be interested in and also pick a shift.  Just because you picked them or even just because you wrote in doesn't mean that you will be selected to volunteer and get the position you seek.  This is almost an audition or applying for a job.  Certain positions also require a dress code.  At some point in time you will be asked to meet with us and that's when you will be told if you have the position or not.  There, we will discuss your shifts and dress requirement.

Please Note:  You must be very reliable and do what ever position you are doing properly.   If you are not in the place that you're supposed to be at the time you are supposed to be, then your rights as a volunteer will be stripped and you will be escorted out of our venue and banned from the event. 

Deadline to register is August 1st or until we arrive at our target number of volunteers which is 20
